Blue Mother Tupelo and Michelle Malone

On Saturday, 9/27, Blue Mother Tupelo opened for Michelle Malone at Eddies Attic in Atlanta, GA with their spectacular blend of Southern Rock and Roots music. With Ricky on guitar and vocals and Micol (Rick’s wife) on percussion, keyboard and vocals, they steadily moved the house. They are not new to the stage nor Eddies Attic as can be seen with their ability to change between energetic rock and slow roots music which constantly kept the attention of the crowd.

Then came Michelle Malone, who is certainly not new to Eddies Attic. She has got to be one of the most technical guitarists I have seen to date. Her persona coupled with her lyrics and command of the guitar mesh to create a truly wonderful live music experience. Drawing from life’s experiences and deep imagination, she transitions her music and brings the audience with her.

Later, Ricky and Micol rejoined Michelle on the stage to complete the night with some hard driving rock and blues. It was certainly worth the road trip to experience this show. Thank you Ricky, Micol, and Michelle for distracting our attention from the daily turmoil we see today and giving us a lasting memory of some very fine musicians.

EG Kight CD Release Party – Saturday, September 6

EG held the release party for her new CD, It’s Hot In Here, at the Chattanooga Billiard Club’s Tropicana Room in Chattanooga, TN. EG played to an almost sell out crowd of her closest fans. EG’s style is a blues mix with influences from Koko Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and her own country music past. Her new CD is filled with her own songs about love and life. Her one cover, House of the Rising Sun, caught our attention last year when she did an acoustic version. It’s a beautiful and souful rendition that you can’t miss or forget.
